Are you looking to bring a unique look and a one-of-a-kind story to your handmade scarf, cowl, hat, coat, sweater or other fabric project? These buttons, handcrafted and shaped free-form from reclaimed 1800s Vermont barn wood, do just that.

Each button is individually shaped, making every form subtly its own but still part of a set. They are approximately 2"x3/8" and have two 1/8"-diameter holes to accommodate either yarn or thread.

The wood comes from an 1860s Vermont barn. This reclaimed barn wood has been sanded smooth to avoid snags in fabric, and reveal the beautifully tight grain of this unique wood.

WASTE NOT:
One of the challenges of being in the shop is making sure that as much of the wood “waste” as possible can still have a second - or third - life. Whether it’s donating wood shavings to farmers for animal bedding or – in this case – taking small off-cuts and turning them into one-of-a-kind buttons for my fellow crafts people, I do my best to make "waste" a dirty word in my shop.

FINISH AND CARE:
Finished with either completely natural, 100% pure tung oil or an oil/varnish mixture before being buffed with beeswax, the button is soft to touch but durable enough to hold up to years of use.

For proper care, simply clean your item gently by hand with mild detergent, wipe excess moisture from wood surface and hang clothing to dry. Avoid harsh cleaners or soaking in water. Do not machine wash.
