This cherry bowl was turned from local Vermont, forest-salvaged wood. The included knot and flowing grain add individual character and visual interest to this bowl - as does the gently undulating curve at the rim. The form was finish turned while the wood was still green, and then allowed to season and shrink, warping the wood slightly and creating this subtle shift in the shape (most clearly noticeable in the third photo above).
This wooden bowl is perfect for spices and nuts, or for storing and displaying keepsakes. This bowl is approximately 4 1/8" wide by 1 3/8" high. The walls taper gently from a point at the rim to thicker toward the bottom giving a nice weight and feel to this bowl. Kettler Woodworks' bowls are individually turned from forest-salvaged woods and each form is designed while it is on the lathe, with the shapes often suggested by the wood itself.
This cherry wood bowl is finished with a food-safe and durable mixture of 100% pure heat treated walnut oil, with a top coat of my own walnut oil and beeswax paste. Care is as simple as wiping clean and towel drying. Do not immerse or soak in water. Periodically refreshing with a natural oil will keep this bowl beautiful and useful for years to come. Each bowl comes with a care instructions card.
